Lights, Camera, Awesome: Why Working for a Cyber Giant is Even Better in Real-Life

Have you ever had an internship? Most follow the same pattern – simple tasks that no one else wants to do – but you’re usually so happy to be there that you don’t mind getting coffee and low pay (if you’re lucky enough to find a paid internship).

A paid internship is all well and good – but chances are any internship you’ve come across doesn’t equate to a yearly salary of almost $80,000. That only happens if you land a coveted internship at Google or Facebook – the heavyweights of innovative software development.

Google has been Ranked #1 for Best Internship by Glassdoor.

Facebook has also been recognized by Glassdoor as #1 for the Best to Work.

Google and Facebook together employ almost 35,000 people. Google alone is responsible for 30,000 employees worldwide – with new employees affectionately known as Nooglers.

And to get an internship at either famous company? Needless to say you need to be at the top of your game and ready to take on anything. Google gets roughly 40,000 internship applications, but only 1,500 of those applicants are hired. It makes sense that Google is considered one of the hardest company to interview with.

“What’s your biggest weakness?” – one of the most dreaded interview questions. That’s a softball question compared to the ones you’d find in a Google or Facebook interview. Try answering some of these brain busters:

  • How many cows are in Canada?
  • Write a function that can show the number of users online at any given time.
  • What are the pros and cons of living in outer space?
  • How many barbers are there in Delhi?
  • How many Ping-Pong balls can you fit in a school bus?

They make for a tough/interesting interview. But make it through the interview and get “the call,” you’ve got one of the most coveted internships in the country.

But which Fortune 500 Company has the best perks? Which one pays better? Which one has the most famous visitors stop by?

Check out this infographic to learn more about internships at Facebook and Google, and find out which one has the most to offer.
